To ensure the continuity and stability of drilling and oilfield production operations, our team of engineers traveled specifically to the Junggar Basin project site in Xinjiang. We conducted a deep inspection and preventive maintenance on the core power generation system, which has been running reliably for two years.
This core power system boasts a total output of 4.8MW. It is composed of four highly integrated containerized power stations. Each container houses and parallels four Deutz 6-cylinder gas gensets, achieving a single-container rated power of 1200kW. A total of 16 gensets operate collaboratively to generate power.
The objectives of this site inspection and assessment were:
Comprehensive Evaluation of the gas gensets' current operating conditions and performance.
Rigorous Verification of the implementation of routine maintenance records and standards.
Accurate Diagnosis of key component wear and tear to holistically determine the optimal overhaul cycle.
Our mission is to eliminate the risk of unplanned downtime at the source, ensuring a continuous, high-quality power supply for critical oilfield loads such as drilling and pumping equipment.
In remote and power-intensive operational sites like drilling oilfields, natural gas gensets have become the preferred choice, primarily due to the following four significant economic and technical advantages:
| Ref. | Core Advantage | Key Analysis |
| 1. | Fuel Availability and Cost-Effectiveness (On-Site Fuel & Economics) | Oil extraction often involves the co-production of associated natural gas. Directly utilizing this readily available on-site gas as fuel significantly reduces reliance on external diesel supply, slashing high transportation and procurement costs, and achieving significant economic benefits through on-site resource utilization. |
| 2. | Environmental Compliance (Compliance & Sustainability) | Compared to traditional diesel generation, natural gas combustion is cleaner, producing less sulfur oxides, particulates, and nitrogen oxides. This helps oilfield projects meet increasingly stringent environmental emission regulations and promotes green production practices. |
| 3. | Operational Stability and Reliability (Reliability & Stability) | Modern industrial-grade gas gensets (like the Deutz paralleling system in this project) feature mature technology, offering excellent load response capability and operational stability. They provide smooth, continuous power for critical high-load equipment, ensuring uninterrupted production. |
| 4. | Maintenance Cost Advantages (Reduced Maintenance Cost) | The clean-burning nature of natural gas results in less carbon buildup and internal engine contamination. This helps to extend the oil drain intervals and the engine's major overhaul cycle, thereby reducing the overall maintenance costs over long-term operation. |
